Magosz general assembly: European farmers face major challenges
European farmers face major challenges after the European Commission plans to make serious withdrawals from EU agricultural resources and open EU food markets to food from third countries, including Ukraine – the Hungarian Farmers’ Association (Magosz) stated at its national assembly on Thursday, which the organization informed MTI about in a statement.
The assembly analyzed the results of the past period and the biggest challenges facing farmers, and confirmed that they will continue to act unitedly against them – they explained.
In its statement, Magosz emphasizes: the planned steps of the European Commission are unacceptable, and Ukrainian products also carry food safety risks
It is recalled that more than 70 European farmer organizations demonstrated at the farmers’ demonstration in Brussels, as Ukraine’s accession to the EU would have catastrophic consequences for farmers. The statement quoted István Jakab, president of Magosz, who emphasized that the organization is working together with the government and the agricultural chamber to support young farmers and to renew the technology and generation of agriculture, which requires “a new approach, knowledge and momentum.” In addition to policy topics, the forum also elected new management members. Zsolt Papp, who had previously served as the chairman of the Young Farmers’ Section, became vice president of the association, they informed.
