MAGOSZ: 40 percent of the corn crop was destroyed in the heat
According to the estimates of the Hungarian Farmers Unions and Farmers Cooperative Association (MAGOSZ), almost 40 percent of the expected corn crop has been destroyed across the country this year, due to the hot and the extremely dry weather. The loss is over 200 billion HUF on a national economy level.
Jakab István, president of the Association stressed that drought damaged corn mainly in Nógrád, Heves, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Borsod counties.
Jakab István added that the MAGOSZ suggests the farmers to report the damages at the village engineers in time, who have all the necessary forms. He added that in the agricultural mitigation scheme, 8 billion HUF is available for the mitigation of damages. (MTI)
