Magazine: Back in the first division
We have heard little about Pajzos-Megyer Winery recently but earlier the winery was voted one of the best more than once. Managing director Laurent Comas told our magazine that for the time being Pajzos-Megyer Winery is the second biggest vineyard owner in the Tokaj region, with 190 hectares of own land, from which grapes are produced on 117 hectares at the moment. The company’s Megyer brand offers very good price-value ratio, these wines are made in relatively large quantity and in many varieties characteristic of Tokaj. They are mainly sold via wholesalers and in hypermarkets. Pajzos is the winery’s premium brand, a ‘specialist’ of sweet wines that is acknowledged both in Hungary and abroad, for instance the 2006 5-butt Aszú won a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Pajzos wines are available in a narrow selection and sold based on vintage year. The winery is now busy rebuilding its brands because in the last ten years they were a bit forgotten by wine lovers. Recently a new team started working for Pajzos-Megyer Winery whose new approach and hard work are deemed to bear fruit.
