Magazine: More cosmetics and household chemical products sold last year
In 2015 retail sales of household chemicals and cosmetics were worth HUF 356 billion – like-for-like value sales were up 6 percent but volume sales stayed put. There was a two-digit sales growth in the following categories: shower gel, facial tissue, decorative cosmetics, kitchen towel, toilet cleaner and body lotion.
Balázs Kapronczai, client business partner with Nielsen told our magazine that in the case of cosmetics, facial tissue and Christmas gift packs demand increased for premium products. While private label product sales grew by 5.6 percent, manufacturer brands were able to achieve a 6.4-percent sales growth. In 2015 stores with a floor space above 400m² and drugstores were responsible for 87 percent of value sales (up 1 percentage point).
Sales improved above the average, by 8 percent in the Budapest and Pest County region and in the South East; there was a 7-percent sales growth in the North East. Sales only augmented by 3 percent west of the
Danube.
