Gábor Soltész and son Gergő Soltész are the majority owners of Ostoros-Novaj Wine Zrt. The company has been up and running for 25 years and the winemakers’ goal is to offer constant good quality at affordable prices. Until the early 1990s they were Hungarovin’s suppliers.
After the political transformation they had to learn the rules of market economy and build a winery that would be competitive in the new environment. They started bottling their own wines in 1992. This was the period when multinational retail chains started conquering Hungary and Ostoros-Novaj was producing private label wines for them in large volume. Gergő Soltész has been helping out in the family business since he was 10. Although when he grew up he wanted to choose another job first, he now sees great potential in winemaking. Today Ostoros Wine is the leading winery from the Eger region in the Hungarian market. They bottle large volumes but their products’ reputation is good. They realised in time that consumers don’t want to drink special wines on a weekday evening, they want quality wines at affordable prices. Young people like light, fragrant wines and Ostoros Wine tailored its products selection to their taste. Recently they have launched a major billboard campaign to connect Ostoros Wine with the Eger region more in the minds of consumers. Father and son represent two generations but they can work together really well. In the near future they plan to put a premium wine selection on the market.Related news
