Magazine: After the planning period comes hard work
By the end of January every Hungarian county joined the Good Cafeteria programme which had started back in 2010. The programme’s objective is making public catering for children healthier. Those kitchens that take part in the project will receive information from the so-called Good Cafeteria Teams, which will also help in planning and result evaluation. The programme also measures whether the current normative state contribution to public catering is enough for cooking healthy food for children. If necessary, the programme will recommend changes to the authorities. Joining the programme doesn’t entail extra costs for educational institutions but the project needs external financing, so at the moment one of the most important tasks is finding supporters and convincing the ministries that the project is important.
