Magazine: The most successful MagyarBrand-s of last year

This is the 4th year that Hungarian brands can compete for the MagyarBrands award, the deadline for applications is 30 June 2013. As usual, a jury of independent experts will evaluate products and services, examining factors such as tradition, management, company ownership, the number of Hungarian employees or brand reputation. In 2012 the following ten brands were the top MagyarBrands:

1. HERENDI – 187-year-old Herend Porcelain Manufactory’s products can be found all over the world. The most famous Herend pattern was named after Queen Victoria. 2. PICK – A family enterprise established in 1896, PICK’s business success and CSR activity were rewarded with the Crystal Crown Award in Birmingham USA in 2001 and in the same year the European Foundation for Quality gave PICK the ‘Recognised for Excellence’ certification. In 2007 the European Commission granted PICK salami the Protected Geographical Indication status. 3. GUNDEL– Gundel Restaurant managed to survive world wars and recessions because they have always perfectly combined Hungarian traditions with world trends, plus Gundel has always used the best ingredients. 4. ZWACK – The legendary Zwack family has been in the business for more than 200 years and has sold more than 18 million litres of alcoholic beverages all over the world. Forbes magazine described Zwack as ‘an outstanding company’, which despite the worldwide success managed to remain a family enterprise. 5. ZSOLNAY – Zsolnay is a brand that has been the symbol of tradition, originality, artistic value and constant renewal for more than 150 years. At the end of last year Zsolnay Porcelain Manufactory introduced its pyrogranite wall panel collection at the 100% Design trade show in London. 6. HERZ – Herz soon earned international fame after its foundation in 1888, receiving the first international recognition at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900. Following constant demand from consumers, the original recipe book of founder Ármin Herz has been taken out again and the products in the HERZ Classic product line are now made after the original recipe. 7. HOLLÓHÁZI – Hollóházi Porcelain products are made in a factory but they represent real folk art value. The company sells its products from Japan to the USA, from Scandinavia to Australia. 8. KALOCSAI PEPPER – Pepper produced by Kalocsai Fűszerpaprika has been a top product on the German pepper market for decades. The company even has its own chivalric order, the Kalocsai St. Steven Order of Paprika Knights, which is supposed to strengthen the ties between the products and famous people or ordinary buyers. 9. OTP – OTP Bank’s predecessor was established in 1949 and by today the bank has become of one of the major financial service providers in the region. OTP Bank is currently present in Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, the Ukraine, Russia and Montenegro. 10. IBUSZ – IBUSZ is a brand with a history that goes back more than 100 years. The company is key a player in the Hungarian tourism market, with the IBUSZ name being familiar to 99 percent of consumers. Outside Hungary’s borders, especially in the countries where the company used to have offices, the IBUSZ brand name practically equals Hungarian tourism
