Higher cereal crop prices in January than a year earlier
Data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reveals that Hungary’s poultry meat export dropped 13 percent to 147 thousand tons, while import grew by 3 percent to 55 thousand tons between January-September 2020. NAIK AKI PÁIR data indicates that the live weight price of broiler chicken decreased by 2 percent to HUF 254/kg, while turkey’s price fell 1 percent to HUF 381/kg in the first 49 weeks of 2020.
According to the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI), in the 4th week the average price of all domestic potatoes was lower than a year earlier at the Budapest Wholesale Market. The weekly average price of the most important domestic apple varieties increased in comparison with the previous year’s price: Idared was offered at HUF 280, Gala cost HUF 295 and the Golden variety was available for HUF 300 per kilogram.
According to AKI PÁIR, in Hungary the producer price of milling wheat (excluding VAT and transport costs) increased by 31 percent to HUF 70.2 thousand per tonne, for feed wheat it went up by 30 percent to HUF 67.6 thousand per tonne in the third week of January, compared to a year earlier. At the same time, the producer price of feed maize increased by 49 percent to HUF 65.4 thousand per tonne. //
