The transformed Kecskemét METRO shifts to a higher gear
The 30-year-old wholesale complex project aimed at renewing the entire chain of stores ended this year with the transformation of the METRO store in Kecskemét. The success of the investment was celebrated on November 7th by the METRO team together with customers and partners.

With the autumn renovation of METRO in Kecskemét, the project aimed at renewing the entire department store chain was realized
In response to the needs of professional buyers and in the spirit of the new multi-channel wholesale model, catering establishments and independent retailers in the city of Kecskemét and Bács-Kiskun county can process their purchases faster and more efficiently at METRO.
Multi-channel wholesale model
The department store chain defined its operating strategy in 2021 at the international level, based on key customer groups – catering and retail customers. The goal of the strategy is twofold: on the one hand, to complete multi-channel wholesale sales, and on the other hand, to make work processes within the company more efficient and simpler. The pillars of the new, multi-channel wholesale model are store sales (Cash and Carry), the delivery business and digital services. The development affects all areas, but the transformation of the stores and customer spaces is the most striking. The 13 domestic members of the department store chain were renovated one after the other: the first was the METRO in Budakalász, followed by the stores in East Pest, Szeged, Szombathely, Győr, Nyíregyháza, Székesfehérvár, Ferencváros, Miskolc, Budaörs, Pécs, and last but not least, the Debrecen store. With the autumn renovation of the METRO in Kecskemét, the entire project was completed.
