SMEs expect high sales growth – but how much of this will inflation take away?
Based on the results of the second quarter of the K&H SME Confidence Index 2022, businesses expect a 12 percent increase in sales revenue and a 7 percent increase in profit for the year ahead. This is the highest expected increase in sales revenue in the history of the index, but it is also the same as the MNB’s annual inflation forecast for this year, so a further rise in prices may bring negative financial results in real terms.
Based on the results of the K&H SME confidence index, which examined the expectations of Hungarian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises between May 16 and June 18, Hungarian SMEs expect the highest increase in sales in the last 18 years.
“According to the survey, businesses plan for a 12 percent increase in sales revenue for the next year. This is practically the same as the expected price increase this year stated in the MNB’s latest inflation report, so the question is how much profit SMEs will actually be able to realize”
– analyzed the results by Zoltán Rammacher, head of K&H SME marketing and sales support.
“For the time being, expectations for profit growth are at 7 percent, however, the impact of the significant changes in taxation and the money market have not yet appeared in the respondents’ expectations”
– emphasized the SME specialist.
