Digital security is not a luxury, but a basic necessity
Today is World Data Protection Day, an annual event that draws attention to the critical role that data protection plays in the digital world. Modern life is now largely online: shopping, working, learning, and connecting – and we share a lot of personal data. According to cybersecurity firm SlashNext, phishing attacks aimed at obtaining credentials increased by 703% in the second half of 2024.* This is dangerous because the credentials obtained can give attackers access to sensitive information, financial data, or even corporate systems, which can lead to serious data theft, financial losses, and security risks. The surge in attacks indicates that traditional defenses are no longer enough and that proactive security measures are needed.
Increasingly sophisticated threats
Phishing attacks, ransomware, online scams, and fake websites are now targeting not only large companies but also individual users. According to the latest trends, attackers are using increasingly sophisticated technologies, such as artificial intelligence, which is now used not only for protection but also for attacks. For example, they are creating AI-based chatbots that pretend to be real customer service agents and thus trick users into giving away their passwords or bank details. Meanwhile, the increase in the number of IoT (Internet of Things) devices and the rise of remote working have created new risks.
Digital security is not a luxury, but a basic necessity. As threats evolve, we must also keep up to protect our data. Defending against online threats is no longer just a matter of technology, but individual awareness is also key. However, this requires tools that help create security simply and effectively.
