According to MA-HAL forecasts, consumers will definitely be able to access traditional Christmas fish varieties – producers have maintained their output levels, and no supply uncertainty is expected in stores or markets.

Pond farms have become important players in water management

The organization emphasizes that the operation of pond farms goes beyond food production. They play an increasingly prominent role in water retention, improving the local microclimate and reducing irrigation water demand, thus directly supporting the surrounding agricultural sectors. The summer water shortages have shown that the operation of fish ponds as water service providers is of strategic importance.

Price stability in the fish market

Despite significant food inflation, the organization estimates that fish prices may remain at last year’s level. According to MA-HAL, consumers will be able to buy carp, catfish and other domestic fish species at similar prices this Christmas, which is good news for family budgets. The organization sees that although the costs of fish farmers have increased, no significant increase in market prices is expected.
