The foundation stone of a logistics and truck terminal was laid in Debrecen
A logistics and truck terminal capable of parking two hundred and sixty trucks is being built in the northwestern economic zone of Debrecen; Of the 4.7 billion forints cost of the investment, 2.3 billion will be provided from European Union and domestic budget sources – it was announced on Wednesday at the site, when the foundation stone of the terminal was laid.
Zoltán Nyul, Deputy State Secretary for Building Construction at the Ministry of Construction and Transport (ÉKM), said at the event that the success of the region is based on cooperation and partnership between the government, the local government and the economic actors.
He added:
The construction of the logistics and truck terminal is not an economic investment for its own sake, but a symbol of the city’s livability will be.
The city of Debrecen is in the focus of government activity – said the Deputy State Secretary, then referring to his portfolio, he indicated: infrastructure developments have already had visible results in many areas, from public utility construction, to road and railway infrastructure to the development of educational infrastructure, and preparations are visible for these results to help the local economy to maximize its potential year after year.
Zoltán Nyul called it particularly important for the future in relation to the terminal how to keep the operating costs of such a facility, or even a larger complex, as low as possible, so that it allows the exploitation of the basic economic potential help as much as possible.
The solutions of the Debrecen terminal will all point in this direction – he said, noting that a truck terminal is a traffic-attracting facility, therefore the choice of the construction site is particularly important.

László Papp (Fidesz-KDNP), Mayor of Debrecen, highlighted that with the completion of the terminal and the second phase of the investment With the NAV customs yard being built in the planned period, the city’s road network will be significantly freed from truck traffic.
He said,
the future terminal will also be suitable for serving the transit traffic of the M35 motorway, as it will be the last large truck and railway logistics terminal before the Hungarian-Romanian border.
According to Lajos Barcsa (Fidesz-KDNP), Deputy Mayor of Debrecen responsible for the economy, the investment is not only for truck drivers but also for people living in the city, there will be less noise, traffic will be safer, it will “give the roads back to the people of Debrecen”.
Ferenc Kun, CEO of Debreceni Ingatlanfejleszto Kft., said that the new terminal will significantly improve the efficiency of logistics tasks in the region.
The terminal will have 260 European-standard truck parking spaces, of which 64 will be gold and 196 silver, and truck drivers will be able to spend their rest time in civilized conditions. The investment will be completed in the first half of 2027, he announced.
