Swiss premium chocolate maker Lindt & Sprüngli says they will have no choice but to raise prices after two African countries charge a sizeable premium to pay the poorest farmers a support – Bloomberg wrote.

From October, two West African countries, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, are collecting 400 USD per tonne for cocoa sales to support the livelihoods that the poorest farmers would receive. The move could have a major impact on the world’s chocolate manufacturers, given that the two countries account for 60 percent of the world’s cocoa production. (portfolio.hu, Bloomberg)
