Linamar and Gallicoop continue to lead the Békés County TOP100 company list
Linamar Hungary Zrt. and Gallicoop Zrt. continue to lead the latest TOP100 company ranking of the Békés County Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMKIK). The top of the list has not changed, but Guardian Orosháza Kft., which previously ranked third, has slipped significantly and is only in tenth place in 2023.
Linamar: increasing sales, decreasing profit
Linamar Hungary Zrt., headquartered in Orosháza, which manufactures road vehicle components, employs more than 2,700 people and its net sales revenue reached HUF 122.7 billion in 2023. Although turnover increased, operating profit and after-tax profit turned negative, so the company’s financial performance faced serious challenges.
Gallicoop: stable growth in the poultry industry
Gallicoop Zrt. from Szarvas, which processes poultry meat, also maintains its leading position: its sales revenue increased by more than 4 billion forints in one year, reaching 66.8 billion forints. Despite this, the company’s after-tax profit decreased from 1 billion to 875 million forints, which represents a moderate decline.
Hirschmann Car Communication on the podium
This year’s third place went to Hirschmann Car Communication Kft. from Békéscsaba, which manufactures telecommunications equipment. The company achieved sales revenue of almost 40 billion forints, and its after-tax profit was nearly 2 billion forints – this was enough to move up the rankings.
Békés County: unemployment at a historic low
According to the publication, in 2024, 67 thousand economic organizations operated in the county. Meanwhile, unemployment has fallen to an all-time low: 145,000 people worked in the primary labor market in the third quarter, and the number of job seekers has fallen below 10,000.
The economy of Békés County is showing stable growth despite the difficulties. Leading companies in the region, such as Linamar and Gallicoop, remain dominant players, while new companies have also made their way into the TOP100 rankings. And the favorable employment data indicate that positive economic developments are taking place in the region – even if the financial results indicate challenges for some companies.
