Lidl Hungary is also closed on Christmas Eve this year: the supermarket chain supports the peace of the holiday
Following the tradition started last year, Lidl Hungary will not open its stores on December 24 this year either. In this way, the company wishes to ensure that its nearly 10,000 employees can prepare for Christmas and spend Christmas Eve undisturbed in an intimate family environment. The department store chain not only takes care of its employees, but also its customers: it is waiting for customers with extended opening hours nationwide on December 23, until 10 p.m.
Zita Szlavikovics, the president of the management board of Lidl Hungary, emphasized that family togetherness plays an important role during the holiday season.
“For Hungarian people, Christmas Eve is the most intimate family holiday. As a responsible company, we consider it important that all of our nearly 10,000 employees can spend the holiday of love in peace with their loved ones,”
he said. Lidl will close all 210 stores in the country between December 24 and 26, following its decision last year, which was highly appreciated by customers and employees.
The supermarket chain’s move is exemplary and can serve as a model for other retail chains on social responsibility during the holiday season.
