Lidl coupons added to pensioners’ food vouchers
The delivery of the 30,000-forint food vouchers for pensioners has not even begun, and Lidl has already announced its own promotion. According to the retail chain’s flyer, from September 4, every customer who spends at least 5,000 forints by redeeming the voucher will receive an additional 500-forint coupon as a gift.
The vouchers will be delivered by the post office between September 1 and October 15. Zsolt Nyitrai, the Prime Minister’s chief advisor, emphasized in a video posted on his Facebook page that the government intends to help pensioners with margin reductions and food vouchers in the situation caused by unjustified price increases by food chains.
The range of those eligible for the vouchers is wide: in addition to pensioners, those receiving pension-like benefits, such as people with disabilities, will also receive the support. The vouchers can be redeemed until December 31, but can only be used for cold food: hot food, alcohol, tobacco products, chemical products or cosmetics cannot be purchased.
The vouchers are not personal, anyone can use them. They cannot be exchanged for money and are not refundable. The possibilities for use are wide: they can be redeemed in stores of domestic retail chains, discount stores, bakeries, butcher shops, greengrocers, markets and primary producers alike.
Lidl’s promotion can bring additional savings to pensioners, as the coupon accompanying the redeemed voucher can be used for any product.
