The acquisition of SABMiller’s former Central and Eastern European companies has been completed: the new owner is Asahi
Asahi has completed the acquisition of SABMiller’s former Central and Eastern European businesses and brands, including the companies, brands and other related assets in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Romania.
The European Commission approved the merger of SABMiller and AB InBev with the condition that AB InBev has to sell its companies in Central and Eastern Europe. In March, the European Commission approved the sale of these companies to Asahi. The company will now operate as Asahi Breweries Europe Ltd., under the direct control of the Tokyo-based Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. Its regional headquarters will be in the Czech Republic, in Prague.
