The acquisition of the Szallas Group has been completed: it was purchased for 82 million euros
One of the most significant Central European digital acquisitions in the tourism sector in recent years has been completed: Wirtualna Polska, listed on the Polish stock exchange, has acquired the Szallas Group, which also operates Szallas.hu.

It was purchased for 82 million euros
The accommodation booking site, which has a dominant position in the domestic market, was purchased for 82 million euros, and the plans include that, relying on the successful Hungarian model, they will effectively compete with global platforms in the travel industry as a regional player. The transaction was assisted by the BLS-CEE Law Firm as the group’s permanent strategic legal partner, whose regional experience the group will continue to rely on for the planned growth in the future.
In the era of the rise of global digital platforms, it is rare for a smaller player to successfully compete with the giants. The Hungarian-based Szallas.hu, which was founded in 2007 and successfully weathered several crises, was extremely successful in this: it showed how, as a Hungarian actor, it is necessary to stay afloat alongside the biggest global players with international acquisitions and fast and high-quality local services. The group, which has been operating since then as the Szallas Group, was noticed by Wirtualna Polska Holding S.A., which is the owner of several significant media and e-commerce portals in the Polish and regional markets, due to the acquired market position and the effectively applied model.
