Nébih’s summer seasonal food chain inspection has been completed
Under the coordination of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), government agencies and Nébih experts conducted more than 350 inspections during the summer seasonal inspection series between July 15 and August 30. As a result of the irregularities discovered, proceedings were initiated in 26 cases, which are being conducted and fines are being imposed.
The experts inspected equestrian camps, spritz terraces, producers of meat products intended for grilling, mineral water bottlers and soda water producers, as well as vendors at local farmers’ markets.
During the inspections, the safety of products and services that are in high demand during the summer period was examined. The aim was to protect consumers and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Inspections were conducted at 76 local farmers’ markets nationwide. The majority of the vendors were registered small producers and had a FELIR identifier, and those selling as primary producers were asked to supplement their small producer declaration.
Hygiene conditions were ensured at the inspected markets. The vendors had only minor deficiencies in the labeling of food, record keeping and other documents, which were corrected by the parties concerned within the deadline.
However, in one county, a small producer selling slaughtered poultry and eggs and a dairy product at two separate locations was prosecuted for serious irregularities, and a total of more than 130 kilograms of food and 300 eggs had to be withdrawn from circulation. In Budapest, there were two cases where non-small producer meat products were sold as traders at a local farmers’ market.
A case has been opened against one of the entrepreneurs for food hygiene deficiencies, improper storage of food, and lack of traceability
– the ministry announced.
