UBM closes acquisition of Agrifirm Hungary Zrt.
The UBM group has successfully closed the acquisition of Agrifirm Hungary Zrt., which is part of the Dutch Royal Agrifirm Group, and will continue its activities under the name UBM Nutrition Zrt. in the future – the agricultural group informed MTI on Wednesday.
No information was provided on the financial details of the transaction. As stated in the statement, Agrifirm Hungary Zrt. is the leading Hungarian poultry feed manufacturer, and the 120-year-old Dutch parent company is one of the largest feed manufacturers in the world. According to publicly available company data, the sales revenue of Agrifirm Hungary Zrt., which employs 130 people, decreased to 27.995 billion forints last year from 32.929 billion forints the previous year, and its after-tax profit turned from a loss of 1.893 billion forints in 2023 to a profit of 1 billion forints.
UBM, which will be 30 next year, is one of Hungary’s largest agricultural groups, a market-leading feed producer and one of the largest feed raw material traders
The company exports to 19 countries and foreign sales account for more than half of its revenue. The UBM Group’s consolidated revenue in the business year ending June 30, 2024, reached HUF 198.667 billion, compared to HUF 231.612 billion a year earlier. Its after-tax profit increased to HUF 1.432 billion in the same period, compared to HUF 913 million a year earlier. UBM is the only agribusiness company on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE), and its shares are traded in the standard category. On Tuesday, its share price closed at HUF 1,250, having traded between HUF 1,080 and HUF 1,500 in the past year.
