Retail sales growth accelerated in Poland in July
Poland’s retail sales growth accelerated more than expected in July on an annual basis.
Retail sales rose 4.8 percent year-on-year in July after a 2.1 percent increase in June, the Polish Statistical Office (GUS) said on Monday. Analysts had expected a more moderate 3.5 percent increase.
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco products rose 4.7 percent year-on-year in July after a 0.1 percent decline in June. Sales of furniture, radio, television and household appliances rose from 10.2 percent to 13.8 percent, while sales of textiles, clothing and footwear rose from 11.8 percent to 13.2 percent, while sales of motor vehicles, motorcycles and their parts slowed to 4.5 percent from 7.7 percent in June.
In July, retail sales increased by 4.8 percent compared to June, when a 1.8 percent decrease was recorded.
