Zalando expands automation with Polish robots
Zalando is accelerating its automation plans with the deployment of Polish robotics. Nine robots will be put to work in the online fashion retailer’s European distribution centers this year, with another ten to follow in 2026.
Zalando and robotics company Nomagic have entered into an international partnership, with nine robots set to become operational in Zalando’s European distribution centers this year, Retail Detail reports. A further rollout is planned for 2026, with a “double-digit number” of robots, according to Nomagic. The partnership follows Zalando’s recent acquisition of a minority stake in the Polish company. Nomagic raised some 44 million euros in that financing round.
Nomagic develops AI-driven solutions that take over tasks such as order picking, scanning, and feeding automated sorting systems at the item level thanks to computer vision and machine learning. During a joint pilot project, the solution achieved an average of 10,000 order picks per day. The robots are expected to further increase efficiency in Zalando’s logistics chain and contribute to the company’s ambition to make its fulfillment centers even more flexible and sustainable.
