The storm hit the favorite resort of Hungarians – shocking video!
An extraordinary storm hit Split, Croatia, on Tuesday morning, turning the city’s streets into floods in minutes, MTI reported, citing local media reports. The storm, which came with wind gusts of 120 km/h, uprooted trees, swept away vehicles, and even set a ferry adrift, which collided with two larger ships. One of the ships sank, injuring several people.
According to Croatian public television HRT, the torrential rain flooded most of the main streets of the city center. The wind overturned motorcycles, swept away garbage containers, and damaged the terraces of restaurants. Several parts of Split were temporarily left without electricity, and many buildings were damaged.
Local sports facilities were also devastated: the roof of the Poljud stadium was damaged, and the field was flooded. Parts of the historic Diocletian’s Palace were also flooded.
Croatian authorities are currently assessing the damage and organizing restoration work. The popular Adriatic destination also attracts a significant number of Hungarian tourists, so travelers should monitor local weather and traffic reports.
