Penny has stoped switched off the self-service payment machines
After six weeks test periode, Rewe’s discount banner in Germany has ended its trial with self-service payment machines.
The three Pecuron payment terminals
from IBM and Giesecke & Devrient as well as two card payment-only
terminals from Skeye in the Penny store in Bonn-Duisdorf have been
switched off. According to people involved in the project, Rewe
Group is now deciding if the separation of scanning and payment
equipment is applicable to the discount format. Over the past six
weeks, Rewe tested self-service payment in its Bonn-Duisdorf store,
while the scanning was carried out by employees. This test was the
first of its kind in a discount store.
