Economic growth slowed in the second quarter in the euro area and in the EU
Economic growth both in the European Union and in the euro area slowed down significantly in the second quarter.
According to the first estimate released by the European Union Bureau of Statistics (Eurostat) on Wednesday, gross domestic product (GDP) in both blocks increased by 0.2 percent in April-June, seasonally adjusted.
In the first quarter, the economy grew at a much stronger pace than in the previous three months, with 0.4 percent in the 19 Member States of the euro area and with 0.5 percent in the 28 Member States of the Union. (MTI)
