Delivery of food vouchers to pensioners is slowly being completed
The delivery of 30,000 forint food vouchers for pensioners will end on Wednesday, October 15, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation announced on the M1 current affairs channel on Wednesday.
Róbert Zsigó said that more than 2.3 million pensioners and those receiving pension-like benefits will receive the voucher. The total value of the benefit is 70 billion forints, of which 15 billion forints have already been purchased by those affected.
He added that anyone who was unable to receive it and received a notification from the delivery person can pick it up at the post office within ten days as usual; anyone who did not receive a notification but is entitled to the voucher can contact the telephone number on the Hungarian State Treasury website. It cannot happen that someone is entitled and does not receive or is unable to use the voucher, he emphasized.
The vouchers can be redeemed until December 31 exclusively for cold food, in addition to larger grocery stores, at the market, at primary producers, greengrocers and butchers. – he noted.
He said that the margin reduction applied to food products from March and to drugstore products from May is in effect until November 30.
He mentioned that government agencies have so far carried out more than 3,000 inspections in connection with the margin reduction and imposed fines of 195 million forints.
