The number of Internet users increasing slower than before
In Hungary, 62 percent of the population aged 15-69, almost 4.6 million people uses the internet at least monthly. Although Internet penetration has not stopped, the pace slowed down considerably, so the number of Internet users increased by about only 2 percentage points in the last one year.
The main reason is that the ratio of the most open groups – young people, graduates – already excessed 90 percent, so the new net citizens can only come from the older generation. In this circle we cannot see significant increase: 43 percent of the people in their fifties, 24 percent of the people in their sixties are use the internet.
