The soft wheat crop may be smaller this year in the EU
The European Union’s soft wheat harvest this year will be 141.5 million tonnes, lower than last year's record of 148.2 million tonnes, when the weather was very favorable.
The European Commission in its forecast that was released on Monday describes that this year, the wheat exports will fall to 27.1 million tonnes from the 31 million tonnes of last year.
The durum wheat crop is expected to decrease with a lesser degree, from 10.6 million tonnes to 10.2 million tonnes. The durum wheat is the raw material of pasta. (MTI)
