The soft wheat crop may be lower in 2015
The European Union's 2015 soft wheat harvest will be 140.2 million tons, which will be 5 percent lower than the average yield in 2014. This is partly due to the fact that unfavorable weather conditions occured in the southeast countries during the time of sowing.
According to the forecast of Strategie Grains, the leading French cereal industry, the soft wheat’s acreage this year decline by 1 percent to 24 million hectares in the EU, compared to 2015, while the soft wheat yields are currently estimated to decline by 4 percent to 5.8 tonnes per hectare.
