LG established a research and development subsidiary in Vietnam
The Vietnamese R&D center of LG Electronics (LG) has officially become a research and development subsidiary: the purpose of the decision is to strengthen LG’s fast-growing electric vehicle business.
The task of the Vietnam-based research and development subsidiary will be the development and control of software for on-board infotainment (IVI) systems, which are one of the main focal points of LG’s mobility business. IVI systems are considered a key technology for future mobility: in addition to telematics and audio, video and navigation (AVN) solutions, they provide numerous information and entertainment functions related to driving.
According to the market research company Strategic Analytics, since the third quarter of 2022, LG has led the global market for IVI systems with a weight of 23 percent, and in addition, the company has now recorded a double-digit share in the IVI market for two consecutive years.
