To preserve the Hungarian foie gras products is a cultural and national economic interest
To preserve the Hungarian foie gras products is a cultural and national economic interest – the Deputy Minister of State of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM) responsible for food chain surveillance said on Friday at the Foie Gras festival in Orosháza-Gyopárosfürdő.
Bognár Lajos emphasized that the goose liver is a traditional Hungarian product, therefore, the European Parliament decided that its production is permitted by providing the statutory conditions.
He described that foie gras is the country's outstanding export product. About 80 percent of the global production comes from Hungary. The quantity to be exported is around 1,500 tons per year resulting in an almost 8 billion HUF revenue. (MTI)
