Special programs await visitors on the occasion of Caves Month
The March Cave Month program series awaits those interested with special programs, during which previously hidden caves will be revealed to the general public. Visitors can also take part in bat-walking and photography tours, among other things.
This year’s Cave Month offers many opportunities for those who want more than the usual cave tours. Locations that cannot be visited at other times of the year will also open their doors.
The programs include extreme tours taking place in the dark, professional tours introducing secret cave nooks, interactive sessions and photography events – the Active and Ecotourism Development Center sent to MTI in a statement.
Visitors can also try out what it’s like to wander in complete darkness, only with the light of a headlamp. Those who would like to follow in the footsteps of prehistoric man can take part in a time travel, where the secrets of Stone Age hunters will be revealed. Photography tours are also available for those interested.
In the Pál-völgyi Cave, visitors can gain an insight into the life of bats. The program begins with a zoological presentation, during which visitors can learn about the Hungarian bat species, their lifestyle and special abilities. After that, they can take part in a cave tour accompanied by a professional guide, during which they can discover the important underground habitat of bats.
A special tour awaits those interested in the Szemlő-hegyi Cave, during which they can learn how the former researchers got into the cave, what route they took to approach it, and how the cave became one of the favorite destinations of visitors.
