A Special Aszú in Tokaj

The season in the Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan begins with the operetta of Szilágyi László titled Tokaji Aszú, which was the most successful operetta of the 1940's. It was played on stage for three years after 1940 and a feature film was also made.

After 1945 censorship banned the play and then it was not played anyhere for nearly fifty years. The authors created a dramatic atmosphere in the operetta, but the love affair of Pista and Lidi always complied with the rules of the operetta. The performance will take place at the Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan on 6 June.
The Tokaji Aszú operetta is directed by Szilágyi Tibor and performed by the artists of the Veszprémi Petőfi Theatre.
