The St. Stephen’s Day event series and location are special
One of the most special venues of the St. Stephen’s Day festive event series will be the Philosophers’ Garden on Gellért Hill again this year, where classical music, jazz and interactive concert experiences will take center stage for two days. On August 16–17, renowned orchestras such as the Modern Art Orchestra, the Central Orchestra of the Hungarian Armed Forces and the Danubia Orchestra will perform special performances on the Panorama Classical stage.
The programs, which take place in a natural environment, will appeal not only to those interested in classical music, but also to families, young people and those who prefer lighter genres. Panorama Classical is becoming more and more popular every year, as it brings classical and contemporary music culture closer to all ages in a direct, experience-based format. The concert series awaits visitors in the Philosophers’ Garden on Gellért Hill between August 16–17.
August 16.
On Saturday, the Hungarian National Defence Forces Budapest Garrison Orchestra will perform live, followed by the musicians of the Modern Art Orchestra, who will welcome the audience to play music together: children and adults can try out the instruments in their interactive sessions. One of the special programs of the day is the Mozizene concert, which will feature jazz arrangements of classical and contemporary film music with the participation of Franciska Törőcsik.
August 17.
On Sunday, the focus will be on percussion instruments, wind instruments and Hungarian melodies. The Danubia Percussion Ensemble’s playful, interactive children’s program will introduce the audience to the world of rhythm instruments, and then the Wind Orchestra of the Szent István Király Vocational High School will perform playful arrangements of well-known pieces. In the evening, Panorama Classical’s program will conclude with a concert titled “The Great Hungarian Songbook”, which will guide the audience through the world of Hungarian music, from folk songs to today’s hits – encouraging all participants to sing along.
On both days, children and families can enjoy an instrument caressing, instrument-tuning craft program, and joint music making, with the help of wind instruments and their young virtuosos. The organizers aim to bring classical music experiences closer to the audience in an experience-based, accessible form.
The exact schedule of Panorama Classical, the programs of St. Stephen’s Day, and detailed information about the performers and programs can be found on the constantly updated szentistvannap.hu website and the official mobile application of the celebration series.
