The Romanian Prime Minister threatens the department store chains with a special tax
Victor Ponta Romanian Prime Minister threatened the department store chains in Romania with a special tax, if it is proved that they try to take advantage of the reduction of the VAT of food products.
The Prime Minister responded to the news that some traders have started to gradually raise prices to benefit from the VAT reductions that comes in June.
Ponta pointed out that in a market economy, the government can not freeze the prices, but can impose huge special tax on speculators that they loose the profit they acquired from speculations. (Baranyi László, MTI)
