That’s why food prices have skyrocketed the most in Hungary
Food prices fell the most in Hungary, even though the war sanctions affect the whole of Europe, and the drought also hit Romania to a similar extent as our country. So what can reason do? – the question was asked at the Foreign Trade Conference held at the Károl Gáspár Reformed University.

The weakening of the forint did not help the case either
“Hungary leads the way in terms of food prices. This is strange for a country that exports food. We are ahead of countries that need to import food in terms of inflation”
– said Gyula Pleschinger, member of the Monetary Council of the central bank (MNB).
“Farmer prices are almost the same in the region, but it is the production of food that drives up prices and inflation a lot. Inflationary differences could be attributed to differences in competitiveness, drought and other factors, but the same problems plague neighboring countries as well, the increase in food prices is not to this extent there, after all”
– he added according to the article by Index.
