Fruit prices go down

In April, the producer prices level of agricultural products decreased by 2.9 percent, compared to the prices of the previous year. The price of crop products fell by 8.7 percent, while the price of live animals and animal products increased by 11.1 percent. The cost of chicken eggs showed a sharp 63.4 percent increase – announced the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday.

In January-April, the agricultural producer prices fell by 2.3 percent, compared to the first four months of last year.

Harvests have not started yet, but from plants there were plenty in stock from the previous year's harvest, so compared to last year’s January April period, a 30 percent volume growth occurred with a 8.8 percent price decrease. (MTI)
