KSH: the increase in agricultural purchase prices slowed down in October
After four months of recovery, the rise in agricultural producer prices slowed down in October: purchase prices were on average 58.9 percent higher than a year earlier, and the annual growth rate was 2.1 percentage points slower than in September.
According to the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), the 56.4 percent annual increase in the price of plant products is 3.1 percentage points, and the 64.7 percent increase in the price of live animals and animal products is 0.4 percentage points lower than the previous month.
This is how the price of agricultural products and crops developed
Among vegetable products, compared to September, the rate of increase in the price of cereals slowed down by 13.3 percentage points to 69.0 percent, and the price increase of industrial crops slowed down by 6.0 percentage points to 44.8 percent. The annual increase in the price of wheat slowed by 13 percentage points, from 77.7 percent in September to 64.7 percent, and that of corn from 84.5 percent to 71.5 percent in October. The more moderate price increase of industrial crops is the result of extreme fluctuations, the increase in the price of tobacco slowed by 27.8 percentage points to 7.7 percent, while that of sugar beet jumped by 88.1 percentage points to 87.5 percent, as it was even cheaper in September than last year. The 23.8 percent increase in the price of fruits is 24.7 percentage points stronger than in September, the increase in the price of potatoes accelerated by 21.9 percentage points to 66.4 percent. Compared to September, the price of vegetables accelerated by 6.2 percentage points and was 46.0 percent higher than last October. Cucumbers, cauliflowers and head lettuce rose in price by 67.5, 66.3 and 57.7 percent respectively, head cabbage by 48.9, tomatoes by 38.1, red onions by 29.1, carrots by 24.9 and green beans cost 13.6 percent more than last October.
The 65.3 percent annual increase in the purchase price of live animals is 3.9 percentage points lower than in September
The purchase price of slaughter pigs in September was almost double (199.7 percent) of last year, by October it was “only” 84.5 percent higher, while the price of poultry increased by 4.4 percentage points and exceeded 60 percent (60.1 percent). The purchase price of ducks continues to rise the most: in October it was already 86.2 percent higher than last year, while the producer price of fowls and geese rose by 57.8 and 57.3 percent, respectively, and the price of turkey increased by 47.4 percent. its price increase stagnates at slightly below 40 percent.
The increase in the price of animal products continued to accelerate by 8.5 percentage points, with prices exceeding last October’s level by 64.7 percent. The purchase price of eggs jumped by 36.8 percentage points in a single month and was 88.5 percent higher than in October last year, the 68.6 percent increase in the price of milk was 3.8 percentage points higher than in September.
