KSH: retail turnover in November exceeded the same period of the previous year by 4.1 percent and the previous month by 0.6 percent
In November 2024, the volume of retail trade turnover increased by 3.7 percent according to raw data, and by 4.1 percent adjusted for calendar effects, compared to the same period of the previous year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
The volume of sales in food and food-type mixed stores increased by 5.3 percent, in non-food retail by 4.5 percent, and in fuel retail by 1.3 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to seasonally and calendar-adjusted data, the volume of retail trade turnover exceeded the previous month by 0.6 percent.
The volume of turnover in food and food-type mixed retail trade increased by 5.3 percent in one year. The sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 77 percent of food retail trade, increased by 5.7 percent, and that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores by 3.7 percent.
The volume of non-food retail trade increased by 4.5 percent overall. The volume of sales in furniture and technical goods stores increased by 13 percent, in pharmaceutical, medical product and perfume stores by 7.7 percent, in textile, clothing and footwear stores by 7.5 percent, in general stores of industrial goods by 4.3 percent, in second-hand goods stores by 3.5 percent, and in book, computer and other industrial goods stores by 1.1 percent.
The Central Statistical Office announced that the volume of mail-order and online retail trade, which covers a wide range of goods and accounts for 9.8 percent of retail trade turnover, decreased by 1.3 percent.
Sales of motor vehicle and motor vehicle spare parts stores, which are not included in retail data, increased by 11 percent.
In November, the turnover of national retail trade reached 1,684 billion forints at current prices.
