KSH: in November, retail turnover decreased by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while it increased by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month
In November 2023, the volume of retail sales decreased by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, according to both raw and calendar-adjusted data. The volume of sales adjusted for the calendar effect decreased by 0.6 percent in food and food-type mixed stores, by 3.9 percent in non-food retail, and by 21.4 percent in fuel retail. According to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the volume of retail trade increased by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Monday.
The sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 77 percent of food retail sales, did not change, while that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores decreased by 2.6 percent.
In non-food retail, it increased by 3.5 percent in drug, medical product, and perfume stores, by 4.1 percent in used goods stores, by 5.1 percent in book, computer technology, and other industrial goods stores, by 7 percent in furniture and technical goods stores, 8, 9.2 percent in industrial goods-type mixed stores, and 9.9 percent smaller in textile, clothing and footwear stores. The volume of mail order and internet retail, covering a wide range of goods and accounting for 11 percent of the retail turnover, decreased by 0.3 percent.
