KSH: in November consumer prices exceeded the same monthly values of the previous year by 3.7 percent
In November, consumer prices exceeded those of a year earlier by an average of 3.7 percent, and those of the previous month by 0.5 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.
The price of vehicle fuels exceeded that of October 2024 by 2.4 percent.
Compared to November last year, food prices increased by 4.9 percent, including flour by 39.3 percent, milk by 16.6 percent, chocolate and cocoa by 12.8 percent, fruit and vegetable juices by 11.7 percent, cooking oil by 10.1 percent, eggs by 9.8 percent, butter and buttercream by 9.7 percent, restaurant meals by 7.9 percent, and non-alcoholic soft drinks by 6.3 percent. Within the product group, the price of dry pasta decreased by 6.4 percent, sugar by 5.8 percent, and margarine by 2.7 percent over 12 months.
Services increased by 7.0 percent, including highway tolls, car rentals, parking, and rent by 10.9 percent, vehicle repairs and maintenance by 10.5 percent, sports and museum tickets by 9.6 percent, home repairs and maintenance by 8.8 percent, personal care services by 8.7 percent, condominium common costs by 8.4 percent, and holiday services by 7.3 percent.
The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 4.0 percent, including alcoholic beverages by 4.1 percent.
Household energy costs decreased by 3.2 percent, including piped gas by 6.3 percent, and electricity by 0.3 percent.
The price of durable consumer goods decreased by 0.2 percent, within which used cars cost 6.6 percent less, jewelry by 13.8 percent, new cars by 5.6 percent, room furniture by 2.0 percent, and kitchen and other furniture by 1.2 percent.
Medicines and medical supplies increased in price by 3.9 percent, and vehicle fuels by 0.7 percent.
