The area of orchard plantations can grow
On the basis of the preliminary data on fruit plantation censuses, the area of orchard plantations can grow by around 17,000 hectares from the current 73,000 hectares over the next five years.
However farmers also plan to cut 12,000 hectares – Tóth Péter, adviser of the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday at a press conference in Budapest.
He explained that the survey on nine fruit species carried out between 14 and 16 April covered about 37,000 plantations of about 15,000 fruit-growing farms. (MTI)
