KSH: fewer employees in tourism but better wages last year
Last year the businesses in the accommodation and hospitality sector employed 180,000 employees, 4.9 percent percent less people, compared to the previous year. The average earnings of employees increased by 13 percent to 212,000 forints – according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
According to the analysis on tourism and hospitality in 2018, the performance of the sector has been constantly increasing since 2013. According to preliminary estimates, the gross added value of accommodation and catering services increased significantly, by 8.8 percent in 2018, thus again exceeding the average growth rate of the national economy.
