KSH: in February, retail turnover exceeded the same period of the previous year by 3.3 percent, decreasing by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month

In February, the volume of retail trade turnover decreased by 0.2 percent according to raw data, and exceeded the same period of the previous year by 3.3 percent, adjusted for calendar effects (and leap day effects), the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday.

The volume of sales adjusted for calendar effects increased by 3.5 percent in food and food-type mixed stores, 5.0 percent in non-food retail, and 0.4 percent in fuel retail compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to seasonally and calendar-adjusted data, the volume of retail trade fell by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month.

In February 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year, adjusted for calendar effects, the sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 77 percent of food retail, increased by 3.8 percent, and that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores increased by 1.3 percent.

The volume of non-food retail trade increased by 5.0 percent overall. Sales volume increased by 10 percent in pharmaceutical, medical product and perfume stores, by 2.8 percent in furniture and technical goods stores, by 0.6 percent in general stores of industrial goods, by 2.8 percent in book, computer and other industrial goods stores, by 3.1 percent in second-hand goods stores, and by 4.7 percent in textile, clothing and footwear stores.

The volume of mail-order and online retail trade, which covers a wide range of goods and accounts for 8.3 percent of retail trade, increased by 1.5 percent.

The Central Statistical Office added that sales of motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts stores, which are not included in retail data, decreased by 3.0 percent.
