In February 2026, consumer prices were 1.4 percent higher on average than a year earlier. Consumer prices rose by an average of 0.1 percent in one month, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.

In 12 months, food prices increased by 0.2 percent (excluding catering services, they decreased by 3.2 percent), including 12.6 percent for bakery products, 10.9 percent for buffet products, 10.3 percent for fresh domestic and tropical fruits, ice cream and eating out by 8.1 percent each. Within the product group, the price of margarine decreased by 32.3, that of canned meat by 26.9, that of butter and buttercream by 19.8, that of potatoes by 19.7, that of lard by 19.5, that of dairy products (excluding cheese) by 18.8, that of milk by 17.0, and that of flour by 14.9 percent.

Services increased by 4.2 percent, including theater by 18.8, foreign holidays by 18.0, domestic holidays by 10.2, personal care services by 8.5, vehicle repair and maintenance by 8.2, and that of sports and museum tickets by 8.1 percent.

The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 5.8 percent, including tobacco products by 7.5 percent.

According to the report, household energy costs increased by 4.2 percent, including gas by 10.8 percent, and electricity by 2.3 percent.

The price of durable consumer goods increased by 2.8 percent, including jewelry by 26.6 percent, motorcycles by 6.6 percent, and room furniture and used cars by 5.0 percent each. The price of medicines and medical supplies increased by 5.4 percent, while the price of vehicle fuels decreased by 11.1 percent, the Central Statistical Office reported.

Compared to January, consumer prices increased by an average of 0.1 percent. Food prices increased by an average of 0.1 percent (excluding catering services, they stagnated), including fresh vegetables by 4.0 percent, cooking oil by 2.2 percent, sausages, and ice cream by 1.6-1.6 percent, preserved fruit by 1.2 percent, pork by 3.3 percent, poultry by 2.5 percent, chocolate, cocoa by 1.8 percent, eggs by 1.5 percent, butter, buttercream by 1.3 percent, and milk by 1.2 percent less than a month earlier.

The price of services increased by an average of 0.4 percent, including travel to other long-distance destinations by 1.7 percent more, and freight transport by 4.2 percent less. On average, household energy costs were 1.7 percent lower, including 15.7 percent for district heating.

The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.7 percent, including 1.5 percent for alcoholic beverages. The price of vehicle fuels increased by 0.6 percent. As a result of the end-of-season sales, clothing items cost 1.8 percent less, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced.
