KSH: slight increase in the foreign trade market turnover in January
In January, the volume of exports was 5.8 percent higher and the value of import was 2.9 percent above the levels of a year ago, the trade balance surplus was 419 million euros (129 billion HUF) in January – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.
The value of export was 6.266 billion euros (1,936 billion HUF), the value of import was 5.847 billion euros (1,808 billion HUF).
This year's 419 million euros surplus of January was slightly below the 432 million euros of the previous year, but the surplus measured in HUF was 129 billion HUF in January this year. This is significantly higher than the 119 billion HUF measured in January last year.
The forint price level of import increased by 11.9 percent and the forint price level of export increased by 8.4 percent compared to January 2011. The terms of trade deteriorated by 3.1 percent. (MTI)
