KSH: tourism’s direct contribution to GDP decreased in 2020
According to preliminary data, the share of activities typical of tourism in the gross output of the national economy fell to 5.1 percent in 2020, while in the year before the pandemic, in 2019, the sector still contributed 6.4 percent to GDP. From the latest publication of the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Last year, the contribution of tourism to GDP fell sharply
According to preliminary data for 2020, the sector’s contribution to GDP, taking into account the effects of multiplier production, was 8.1 percent, and in 2019 it was still 10 percent.
The share of value added in tourism-related sectors was 5.4 percent of the national economy as a whole in 2020, 6.8 percent in 2019, which, together with the spill-over effect, was 8.5 percent in 2020 and 11 percent in 2019. (MTI)
