KSH: industrial producer prices decreased by 0.7 percent in May 2025 compared to the previous month, and increased by an average of 6.9 percent compared to a year earlier
In May 2025, industrial producer prices were 6.9 percent higher on average than a year earlier. Domestic sales prices were 3.9 percent higher and export sales prices were 8.3 percent higher than the previous year’s May values, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
The price increase was primarily caused by the annual weakening of the forint against the euro and the increase in production costs, the report added.
Compared to the previous month, domestic sales prices were 0.9 percent lower and export sales prices were 0.6 percent lower, so industrial producer prices were 0.7 percent lower overall.
Within the average increase of 3.9 percent in domestic sales prices, both the manufacturing industry, which represented 62.7 percent, and the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning) with a weight of 35.4 percent increased by 3.7 percent. Sales prices in the food industry increased by 7.6 percent.
Among the groups of sectors by purpose, prices in the domestic energy and secondary production sectors increased by 3.1 percent, in the capital goods sector by 3.9 percent, and in the consumer goods sector by 6.1 percent.
Industrial export sales prices were 8.3 percent higher, within this, prices increased by 4.4 percent in the manufacturing industry, which represented 91.8 percent, and by 16.9 percent in the energy industry, which weighed 8.0 percent.
In January-May, domestic sales prices were 4.8 percent higher and export sales prices were 9.4 percent higher compared to January-May 2024, so industrial producer prices increased by 7.9 percent overall.
