KSH: industrial production fell by 3.2 percent in October
The production of electrical equipment, which accounted for 12 percent of the manufacturing industry, was 9.0 percent higher than a year earlier. Among the two most significant sub-sectors, the volume of production of batteries and dry cells was 38 percent higher, and that of electric motors, power generators, distribution and control devices was 30 percent lower.
The production of computer, electronic and optical products, which accounts for 9 percent of manufacturing production, fell the most among the sub-sectors, by 17.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Among the two largest subsectors, the production of electronic components and circuit boards fell by 4.9 percent, and the production of electronic consumer goods by 24 percent.
Production of food, beverages and tobacco products, which benefited from the processing industry by 13 percent, was 2.8 percent lower than a year earlier, domestic sales increased, exports decreased. Emissions increased in only three sub-sectors, the largest, by 30 percent, in the production of vegetable and animal oil. Meat processing, preservation, and production of meat products, representing the largest weight (22 percent), fell by 6.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other seven sub-sectors, production decreased by between 0.9 and 24 percent, the least in fruit and vegetable processing and preservation, and the most in low-weight fish processing and preservation.
